WPIAL announces new sites, times for baseball and softball playoff games
Inclement weather wiped out the majority of WPIAL softball playoff games and forced the postponement of all baseball games Wednesday.
In Class AAAA baseball, seventh-seeded Canon-McMillan (13-7) will now play No. 2 Pine-Richland in the quarterfinals Thursday at 4 p.m. at North Allegheny High School. Ninth-seeded Peters Township (13-7) will face top-seeded Plum in a quarterfinal game Thursday at North Allegheny (7 p.m.).
In Class AA softball, Bentworth’s first-round playoff game against Laurel was moved to Thursday and will be played at West Allegheny (2 p.m.). The Bearcats (14-5) will have an eight-day layoff between games.
Eighth-seeded Burgettstown (14-6) had its first-round playoff game against ninth-seeded South Allegheny moved to Thursday and to a new location with the WPIAL track championships being held at Baldwin. The Blue Devils will face the Gladiators Thursday at California University’s Lilley Field with first pitch at 2 p.m.
