Photography talk

Matt Dieterich of Pittsburgh will be the guest speaker for the Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters Camera Club meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Peters Township Public Library.

Dieterich is passionate about night sky photography. Growing up in Pittsburgh, he didn’t know what dark night skies were. Bright city lights continue to degrade the night sky to the point where nearly 75 percent of society cannot view the Milky Way from where they live. The goal of his photography is to bring attention to the beauty that exists above our heads in the night sky, away from the city lights. Dieterich recently had the honor of having one of his images, Mount Rainier Star Trails, on a postage stamp by the US Postal Service.

The presentation is open to the public.
