Adopt-A-Family program returns to South Hills

After a one-year hiatus, the Adopt-A-Family program to help local families that need assistance providing Christmas presents for their family has returned to the South Hills.
Formerly run by retired officer Tom Rigatti of the Bethel Park Police Department, the program is now being led by Pamela Colella, who is continuing to look for sponsors to lend a helping hand to families in need.
“Christmas should be a time for receiving not just giving,” Colella said after participating in the program for four years prior to it being discontinued. “We want people to have the same joys of the holiday.”
Individuals interested in helping or for more information can reach Pamela Colella at adoptafamilysouthhills@outlook.com or by calling 412-360-9658. She will provide information to the sponsor from a family’s “wish list” of suggestions. Those gifts will have to be purchased and dropped off by Dec. 16 to the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company, 5213 Brightwood Road.
Colella said she has enough sponsors to assist 13 families during the holiday season. The gifts will be either picked up by the families at the fire department or delivered to those who have travel limitations.
