Band festivals
Three local high schools will host band festivals Sept. 24, including:
• South Fayette–The 36th annual Festival of Bands will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at South Fayette High School stadium. Performing in addition to “The Little Green Machine” will be bands from Avonworth, Avella, Bethel Park, Carlynton, Chartiers Valley, Cornell, Fort Cherry, Obama Academy and Riverview. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students/seniors at the gate. Senior citizens with South Fayette Lion Pride Green cards (formerly Gold Cards) will be admitted free. • Peters Township–The Mighty Indian Marching Band will host its annual band festival at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at Peters Township High School stadium, located on East McMurray Road. High school marching bands participating in addition to the Mighty Indians include: Brashear, Carlynton, Hempfield Area, Jefferson-Morgan and University Preparatory School. The Peters Township High School Choir’s Mixed Quartet will sing the National Anthem. Tickets will be sold at the gate the evening of the band festival. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students/senior citizens at the gate. Concessions will be available.
• Mt. Lebanon–The Blue Devil Marching Band will present its 22nd annual Festival of Bands at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at Mt. Lebanon High School stadium, rain or shine. Numerous area high school bands will be performing throughout the evening along with The California University of Pennsylvania unit. There will also be special performances by The Mt. Lebanon Drum and Front Ensemble and the Mt. Lebanon eighth-grade band. Tickets are available at the gate for $7 or in advance for $6 from any band member.
