At Beth El Congregation of the South Hills, Green Tree, a special alternative service will be held on Rosh Hashanah. The service, “Music, Meaning and Memories,” will take place at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 3. Join Rabbi Amy Greenbaum, Sara Stock Mayo and Beth El’s musicians for an uplifting musical experience. Sing, hear the shofar and celebrate the new year together. The service is open to the community. At the Bible Chapel, Peters Township, “Cotton Patch Gospel,” a musical dinner drama, will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 30. The one-man show tells the story of Jesus according to the Book of Matthew. Dinner, which includes fried chicken and a beverage, begins at 6, followed by the show at 7:30. At Chabad of the South Hills Jewish Center for Living and Learning, Mt. Lebanon, the High Holiday schedule has been announced in anticipation of Rosh Hashana, Oct. 2-4, and Yom Kippur, Oct. 11-12. All prayers will combine the original Hebrew and translated English. In addition, a special children’s program will accompany the adult services. Rosh Hashana services include: Oct. 2 – 6:45 p.m.; Oct. 3 – 9:30 morning service, 11:30 a.m. Shofar Sounding, 1:30 p.m. Tashlich service, 7:30 evening service; Oct. 4 – 9:30 morning service, 11:30 a.m. Shofar Sounding. At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, the fall worship schedule starts Oct. 2, with the early service of traditional worship moving to 9 a.m. Sunday worship services will now be at 9 and 11 a.m. (traditional) and 9:01 and 11:01 a.m. (contemporary).
• Blessing of the Animals, 4 p.m. Oct. 2. Well-trained animals on a leash or in a carrier are welcome.
• Taizé, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5. The contemplative service returns for the season, including quiet meditative moments of scripture, song and anointing. The service takes place the first Wednesday of each month.
• UMW Weekend, Oct. 8-9 at all worship services. Recognize and celebrate the worldwide influence of United Methodist Women.

DivorceCare features a video each week prior to discussion, with nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics.
