In only its second year of existence, South Fayette’s junior varsity hockey club claimed a championship. The Lions edged Avonworth, 3-2, to capture the Pennnsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League title. Lucas Pfeil produced the game-winning goals while Shane Dunn and Brendan Nelson accounted for the other scoring. In the nets, Bruce Hardman stopped 27 of 29 shots on goal. Ryan McGregor coached the team with his assistants Wade Nixon and Frank Certo. The Lions finished the regular season with an 11-3-2 slate, good enough for second place in the standings and a playoff berth.
