USC plans community pep rally

2 min read

The Upper St. Clair School District will host its first-ever Community Pep Rally at 7 p.m. Aug. 31, at the high school stadium. The free event will include a variety of competitions among the Upper St. Clair High School fall varsity sports teams, limbo, a pie eating contest, tug-of-war, field goal kicking contest and more. Attendees are asked to support The Education Partnership, a local nonprofit that provides school supplies to students and classrooms in need, by dropping off donations of back-to-school supplies. Pencils, 24-pack crayons, eight-pack markers, colored pencils, one subject spiral notebooks, standard glue sticks, scissors, two-pocket folders, 150 sheet filler paper packs, copy paper (500 sheets per ream), scotch tape, cap erasers, jumbo erasers and pencil sharpeners are the most needed supplies. Backpacks are always appreciated, too. Donation boxes will be located at the stadium entrances throughout the event. The event will also feature performances by the Upper St. Clair High School marching band and cheerleaders as well as an appearance by the panther mascot. The Kona Ice Truck will be on hand selling refreshments. Panther fans can also purchase 2017-18 USC athletic passes at the event. For more information about the USC Community Pep Rally, contact Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin Deitrick at 412-833-1600 ext. 2261 or via email at kdeitrick@uscsd.k12.pa.us.
