The Upper St. Clair School Board is moving forward with its capital projects after voting during its Dec. 11 meeting to accept bids for improvements to the high school pool and athletic complex.

Construction of a multi-use complex at the high school stadium, along with a single structure at Boyce athletic field to include restrooms and changing area, concession area and announcing booth.

The total cost for the projects is estimated at $16 million. Construction could begin in the spring 2018 with an estimated completion in August 2019.

At the same meeting, the board recognized high school Japanese teacher Junko Kapples for her service. Kapples, who has been with the district since 2002, will retire in January.
