Informational meeting
The Residence at Logan, Bethel Park’s newest senior independent living community, will host an informational get-together to discuss the benefits of choosing a senior living community, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19, at the Bethel Park Community Center on Park Avenue. A light lunch buffet will be available.
Learn about independent senior living and how retirees can benefit from the lifestyle. Information will be provided regarding special incentives for the first 50 residents who sign a lease. There will also be a raffle with all attendees to win a television. The Residence at Logan is designed for seniors who want to maintain their independence but have access to resort-like amenities and services.

Senior luncheon
Mt. Lebanon Recreation will hold a senior luncheon on Feb. 21 at the Rec Center, 2nd floor, Room A, for all seniors and their adult guests (Mt. Lebanon residency is not required). Check-in at 10:30 a.m. in the rec office. Ron Fleck, a physical therapist from Fox Rehabilitation, will present Diabetes Awareness: Eat Right & Exercise at 11 a.m. A meal will be served at noon followed by a 50/50 raffle then a movie at 1 p.m. Fee is $6 per person for those preregistering by noon on Feb. 17. Seniors luncheon
A Pre Purim Seniors Luncheon will be held at noon on March 8 at Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon. Enjoy lunch, Hamentashen and a musical purim program. Suggested donation is $5. Wheelchair accessible. To register, call 412-278-2658 or barb@chabadsh.com.
Dormont AARP
Dormont AARP #3015 meets the second Thursday of each month, year round, at Wallace Presbyterian Church on Greentree Road (intersection of Potomac and Greentree). All seniors age 55 and older are welcome, including new members and visitors. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A meeting follows at noon. Light refreshments are served. Fitness classes
Westminster Recreation & Outreach Center at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, will offer the following for seniors (55+):
• Strong Bodies – Strong Bones, Maintain and Build Bone Strength, from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesdays, March 8-April 26.
• Arthritis Foundation Exercise, 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Mondays and 10 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesdays, March 6-April 19.
• Tai Chi, 11:15 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, March 8-April 26.

Free food
South Fayette Township is partnering with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to provide monthly distributions of free boxes of nonperishable foods, plus fresh cheese, to qualifying adults age 60 and up who meet the income guidelines. Application must be made in person at the South Fayette Township Municipal Building, located on Millers Run Road, Morgan. South Fayette Township residents and neighbors are welcome to apply. Those having a caretaker or needing someone to pick up their boxes are asked to call 412-221-8700. Forms are available to register a caretaker or proxy. Chair exercises
Chair Exercises for Seniors takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at Scott Township Library. Space is limited for the DVD-directed program. To register, call 412-429-5380.
Theatrical-minded seniors
Better Than Ever Independents, also known as the Sassy Seniors, is a theatrical group that performs vaudeville-type shows at nursing homes, AARP meetings and more. New members ages 50 and older are needed. For more information, email jangary2@hotmail.com. There will also be a Christmas show, with performances beginning in November.
TOPS Weight loss
