• A blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 19 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. Register at http://www.westminster-church.org or call 412-835-6630.

• Volunteers are needed to help make pyrohi (pierogi) at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, located on Washington Avenue in Carnegie. Retirees, listen to music from the 50’s, meet new friends, catch up on old times and pinch pierogies. Coffee, snacks and one dozen free pyrohi will be provided to each volunteer. Volunteers are needed from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Pyrohi is open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays. • The State of Mt. Lebanon 2017, a special informational session sponsored by the Republican Committee of Mt. Lebanon and the Mt. Lebanon Council of Republican Women that includes a meet and greet of municipal leaders, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the municipal building on Washington Road. Covered will be 2016 accomplishments, key priorities, issues and challenges for 2017. Speakers include Keith McGill, municipal manager, and school Superintendent Timothy Steinhauer.

• The Peters Township Police Department and LexisNexis Risk Solutions have partnered to provide a new way for the public to stay informed about crime in Peters Township. Peters Township now has an online crime map called Community Crime Map – http://communitycrimemap.com/?address=peterstownship.pa – that maps and analyzes crime data, alerts citizens about crimes in the area, and allows the PTPD to quickly alert the public about crimes as they occur. Citizens can view a map and grid with all of the crimes and incidents in their area, sign up for neighborhood watch reports that automatically email a breakdown of recent crime activity, and submit an anonymous tip about a crime directly to their law enforcement agency. (NOTE: After clicking the link, use the drop down menus on the left to customize dates, event (type of crimes) and various layers. The default settings are only for certain crimes within the past month. These settings and what you are viewing are all customizable by the user.

• Mt. Lebanon residents are being encouraged to apply for one of the volunteer boards and authorities that advise the municipal commission. The commissioners will fill several board vacancies prior to April 1, as many current appointments expire March 31. Interested residents can complete the entire application process online at http://www.mtlebanon.org/64/Apply-for-a-Board. Residents may apply for any board at any time; applications remain active for two years. Currently there are openings on the following boards: community relations (Ward 4), environmental sustainability, historic preservation, library, pension, planning, sports advisory and traffic. Information about each board’s mission, meeting dates and times is available on Mt. Lebanon’s website, http://www.mtlebanon.org/29/Boards-Authorities.
