• Allegheny Health Network (AHN) marks Heart Month and the 14th year of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement with the following events: At Canonsburg Hospital, blood pressure screenings and chair massages will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23, in the hospital’s McNary Conference Center. There will also be presentations on heart healthy nutrition; heart healthy living; yoga and Pilates instruction; and a discussion on safe, effective skin care and wellness products. At Jefferson Hospital, Race to No Place stationary bicycle competition featuring teams of four will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 24, 2nd-Floor Mezzanine. Support your favorite team by placing money in donation bags at each teams station. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the most donations and the team that rides the longest. Proceeds will go toward Jefferson’s 2017 AHA Heart Walk team.
• The South Fayette Band Alumni Association is seeking band alumni to participate in the Bridgeville Memorial Day Parade, set for May 29, as well as the upcoming 2017 South Fayette Band Festival in the fall. • Peters Township School District is accepting nominations for its Character Counts Recognition Award. Nominate an individual today using the online form at http://www.ptsd.k12.pa.us/PTCCnominations.aspx. All residents, as well as individuals who work in Peters Township, are eligible.
• Bethel Park High School will stage “Shrek the Musical” at 7:30 p.m. March 15-18 in the Bethel Park High School auditorium on Church Road. All tickets are $10, payable with cash or check made out to “Bethel Park School District,” and will be on sale to the public from 9 to 11 a.m. March 1-14 in the high school lobby. Evening sales will occur from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 1 and 8, also in the high school lobby. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on performance evenings. Senior citizens can receive half-price admission to the March 15 and 16 performances only. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade can receive half price admission to all performances, but only if the seats are purchased on the evening of the performance.
