Religion: Week of March 1
At Bethel Presbyterian Church, located on Bethel Church Road, an active Lenten schedule is planned for members and guests, beginning with an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. March 1. The sermon will be a reflection and preparation for Lent.
• A program of dinners and choice of two studies will be held Wednesdays, March 8-29 and April 2. A light supper will be served at 6 p.m. The studies, which begin at 7 p.m., are the book study “Mudhouse Sabbath,” exploring the spiritual disciplines from the Jewish tradition through a Christian perspective and an Animate Video Study which explores spiritual disciplines through the use of short videos by leading contemporary voices followed by group discussion. Pastor Cathie Smith and Jessica Kelecava, director of discipleship, will be conducting the classes.

At Hamilton Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, a covered dish dinner will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a worship service at 7 on Ash Wednesday, March 1. All are also invited to a covered dish luncheon and worship service at noon each Wednesday during the Lenten season, beginning March 8. At Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, located on Washington Avenue in Carnegie, volunteers are needed to help make pierogi. Retirees, come listen to music from the 50’s, meet new friends, catch up on old times and pinch pierogies. Coffee, snacks and one dozen free pierogi will be provided to each volunteer. Volunteers are needed from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Pierogi is open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays. At Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, an Ash Wednesday Communion Service will be offered at 7 p.m. March 1 in the sanctuary. “Experiencing the Lenten Journey” will include five stations to observe the great themes of Lent. At South Hills Assembly of God, Bethel Park, CommuniTea women’s Bible study/fellowship for all ages meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 3. Led by Sue Willis with a variety of dynamic teachers/speakers, the theme is: Women of Influence. Free childcare provided with prior registration.
• Miracle Healing Service, 7 p.m. March 6, with Pastor Rick Kardell and music by Healing Waters Praise Team. Fast and pray; bring the sick and afflicted.
• Lunch Bunch Bible study and luncheon for adults, noon to 2 p.m. March 9. Cost of $6 includes lunch. RSVP by March 7.
