South Fayette beats Mt. Lebanon in wrestling match

Though both teams split seven matches, South Fayette edged Mt. Lebanon, 34-33, in high school wrestling. The Lions won on most falls, registering four to Lebo’s three pins.
“It was a very exciting match for the fans,” Lebo mat boss Marc Allemang said.
A large crowd was on hand for youth night as well as a special ceremony. The Lamprinakos family was recognized for its generous donation to the wrestling program. When their father, George, the legendary Lebo coach, passed away, John, RoseAnn and Chris Lamprinakos established a memorial fund in his honor. Last Janurary, the family donated almost $26,000 and the monies were put toward various projects agreed to by the family and the school district.
“We continue to be thankful for the generosity of the Lamprinakos family and proud of what we have been able to provide our wrestlers, alumni and future generations,” Allemang said. “It was a very nice night for Lebo wrestling.”
Except for the loss. In defeat, Parker Reed (138), Turner Gray (160) and Regis Wintermantel picked up pins. Gray’s fall set the school record for pins in a career.
Jackson Gray scored a technical fall to win at 132 while Brian Perri registered a major decision at 126. Luke Stout (152) and Nathaniel Hoaglund (220) won by decisions.
For the Lions, Quentin Franklin (285), Nah Broyle (106) and Colin Dunn (113) strung together pins to start the match. Mike Cusick (145) also had a fall for South Fayette. Gary Loeffler (120) and Joe Bastaroli (170) scored one-point decisions while Mark Kurchena won, 5-1, at 195.
South Fayette is 9-1 overall after winning, 66-16, against Ellwood City during the South Side Beaver Wrestling Duals.
