PIHL hosts all-star game Jan. 29

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League all-star games will be played Jan. 29 at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville. Several area athletes have been selected for the contests which begin at 11 a.m. with the Division 2 game. Class A action starts at 1 p.m. followed by the Class AA and AAA all-star matches at 3 and 5 p.m. All four games will be streamed live on the MSA Sports Network.
Peters Township, which ranks third in the standings behind Central Catholic and North Allegheny, along with Bethel Park, Canon-McMillan and Upper St. Clair headline the list of all-stars on the AAA roster.
Forward Will Barnes and defenseman Matthew Michalowski will play for the Gold squad while forward Steven Rex and goalie Wesley Kaylor compete for the Black team.
The Hawks’ all-stars include goalie Nick Guimond, defenseman Ryan Phelps and forward Jason Bauer on the Gold team and defenseman Bryce Evans and forward JC Bele on the Black unit. For the Big Macs, the selections are: forwards Jake McClelland and Vinnie Lavorgna (Gold) as well as forward Jack Clendaniel and defenseman Jay Oravetz (Black). USC’s representatives are forwards Elliot Stevenson and Jake Bacik (Black).
BP’s Jim McVay will assist Central’s William Connelly with the coaching duties for the Black team.
Mt. Lebanon, which trails only Moon in the West Division, and Bishop Canevin, spearhead the AA all-stars. Lebo’s Gary Klapkowski will assist with the coaching of the Black squad, which features his goalie Maxime Clouser and forward Wyatt George. Forward Ryan Gist will play for the Gold team.
For the Crusaders, defenseman Tomas Krukovski will play for the Black while forward Danel Tkac will play for the Gold.
Chartiers Valley, which tops the West Division, along with South Fayette and South Park will be featured in the Class A contest.
For the Colts, Paul Bonetti is on the Gold coaching staff with his players Jake Casto and Mitchell Hess. Alex Evans and goalie Brandon Edwards will play for the Black team.
Among the Lions’ all-stars are Brandon Poage and Kyle Sharp (Black) as well as Jake Stake (Gold). South Park’s representative is Justin Hickey.
