“Cut loose” with the Center for Theater Arts

Jan. 26-28
‘Footloose’
The Center for Theater Arts will present its annual high school musical, “Footloose,” Jan. 26-28 at the Upper St. Clair High School Auditorium. The cast includes dozens of students from the South Hills representing six different school districts.
When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he isn’t prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid.
Billy Hartung, an Original Broadway Cast member who helped create “Footloose” from its early workshops in NYC, directs the musical. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26, 27 and 28. There will also be a 1 p.m. matinee on Jan. 28. Tickets are $12.
To purchase, visit the Center for Theater Arts or call 412-563-5080. Tickets will also be sold in the lobby before each show.
