South Fayette sets track marks
South Fayette athletes shattered several school records and captured first place finishes during the TSTCA-3 indoor meet held at Edinboro University.
Courtney Phoennik set new standards for jumping. She won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 3 inches. She secured second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump with new school marks of 36′-09″ and 55′-01″
Sam Snodgrass lowered the school record by winning the mile in 4:28.8.
Sam Mastro finished fifth in the long jump. His mark measured 16 feet, .5 inches for a new school record.
Rachel Schuman breezed to victory in the 60-meter dash while Aaron Pfeil finished third in the mile. Amanad Oliver also claimed bronze in the 60-meter race while Pfeil and Snodgrass, along with Silas Mays and Trevor Kulenich took third in the distance medley.
Additionally, Lexi Palmer, Maria DeCello, Ally Lerda and Stef Kozak secured sixth in the girls’ distance medley. Individually, Palmer finished fourth in the mile. Rachel Helbling managed third and fourth in the 800 and 400 races.
