New apartment complex near South Hills Village nears completion
An apartment complex under construction in Bethel Park near South Hills Village Mall will have its first units available on Aug. 1.
A temporary leasing trailer is set up in the mall parking lot for The Ashby at South Hills Village Station, a 300-unit, four-building complex on six acres leased from the Port Authority of Allegheny County, next to the parking garage for the light-rail transit terminus. The developer, Atlanta-based The Dawson Co., has a long history of involvement in transit-oriented projects, according to Bailey Pope, senior vice president for the real estate services firm.
”Bethel Park and the other communities that comprise the South Hills area have a huge pent-up demand for quality contemporary rental housing, since nothing new had been built in the area for many years,” he said in a fact sheet provided by co-developer SunCap Property Group of Charlotte, N.C.
Rent for the units will range from $1,050 to $2,500 per month.
“There is a national trend toward multifamily that is not limited to downtown urban areas,” Pope explained. “That said, this site’s immediate access to the light rail was central to our interest in this location because the transit provides tremendous tangible benefits. We have a solid relationship with the Port Authority and are excited about the public-private approach to this development.”
A stairway connects the complex directly with the platform of the light-rail station.
The property will feature individual garages and elevator service. Amenities include a club room, fitness center with a yoga room, business center and conference room, and, for dog owners, an indoor wash area and outdoor walk area..
Units feature open floor plans with nine-foot ceilings throughout. Island kitchens include wood cabinetry and granite countertops, breakfast bars, stainless steel appliances and electric ranges with smooth cook tops.
