Summer Camps: Week of June 28
Theatre
Little Lake Theatre Company announces its 2017 summer camp programs for children and teens. All programs will be held at Little Lake Theatre, 500 Lakeside Drive, Canonsburg. This year’s summer camp programs have been redesigned and expanded to offer a wider range of acting and technical training for children and teens.
In addition to Acting Camp, new camps have been added, including: Behind the Scenes (July 24-28), Musical Theatre (Session 1: July 17-21, Session 2: (July 31-Aug. 4) and Teen (July 24-Aug. 2). Art camps
Art Encounters studio, located at In His Presence Church, Peters Township, offers two art camps this summer for children ages 6 and up, with the theme “A Tale as Old as Time.” In Drawing Camp, campers will be doing pencil shading, line drawing, colored pencils and more, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. July 17-22. Cost of $50 includes materials. During Clay Camp, campers will experiment with different types of clay, creating and painting projects, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 17-22. Cost of $65 includes materials. South Fayette Township Parks and Recreation offer the following summer camps: Jump Bunch Sport Camps, including Sports Extravaganza, Super Hero Training and Olympic Medal Camp; Snapology Camps, including Pokemania, All About Animals and Adventures with Star Wars; Hi-Tech Learning Camps, including Moviemaking with Minecraft; Challenger Sports Camp, including British Soccer Camp, HappyFeet Soccer Camps and Summer Tennis. Bricks 4 Kidz
Westminster Recreation & Outreach Center (WROC) at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, offers Bricks 4 Kidz Camp from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Learn, build and play with LEGO bricks. Sessions include: Session 1, July 10-14, Mining and Crafting; Session 2, Aug. 14-18, Bat League: Heroes & Villains. Cost is $125. Science Splash Camp
A $500 scholarship towards future college tuition at Westminster College will be awarded to each student attending the Summer Science Splash Camp this year. Sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and the II-VI Foundation, Westminster will host the residential camp for students entering seventh, eighth or ninth grade this fall.
Two sessions will be available to choose from, July 9-14 or July 16-21. Registration for both sessions is available now at www.westminster.edu/sciencecamp. Campers do not need to have an advanced understanding of science to attend, but they are highly encouraged to be motivated to learn.
Cost per camper is $350 and includes a week of science instruction, lodging, meals, snacks, supervised activities, camp shirts and a variety of other prizes. (Total value of camp is in excess of $1,050.) Art
The Artsmiths of Pittsburgh will hold weekly summer camps through Sept. 1, for art-minded youth ages 10-17. Registration is now open for these camps that are held in an arts and cultural center in the former Rollier’s barn in Mt. Lebanon.
