Upper St. Clair Township is planning to install a pavilion near the Miracle Field and playground area at Boyce Mayview Park.

In addition to providing protection from inclement weather for park and playground patrons, the pavilion could also provide rental opportunities for the township.

The municipality’s public works department recommends purchasing a 30-by-40 foot pavilion from Jeffrey Associates under the Pennsylvania State Purchasing program. The total cost of the project, including installation by Jeffrey Associates, is $48,713. Funding will come from the township’s 2017 Allegheny Regional Asset District grant award.

The board was expected to vote on the contract with Jeffrey Associates at its July 3 meeting.

Other items that were expected to be covered during the commissioners’ July 3 meeting include the initial public hearing for unified conditional use/preliminary land development for the construction of a Bank of America building

The new 4,000-square-foot, one-story building is planned for 1801 Washington Road, the current site of CVS, and will include two drive-through lanes and site improvements.

Demolishment of the current CVS building would not take place until the new CVS, located at the former site of Campbell Place near Norman Centre, is open. The new CVS is expected to open in mid-July, pending weather delays.

A continued public hearing regarding zoning text amendment to amend provisions for streetlights in special business-mixed use areas was also to be heard July 3. The applicant is requesting removal of the requirement for street lights along residential streets and would relate to the residential portion of Sienna at St. Clair. The business area of the development would still have street lights, as would the intersection of Sienna Drive and Lucca Lane.

The board is also expected to vote on final approval for the first phase of a plan to construct a new building with 50 assisted living suites and 32 memory support suites, maintenance building, and related site improvements at Friendship Village. The board granted tentative approval at its June 5 meeting.
