5 Things to Know This Week- March 1, 2017
• A Book & Gift Fair by Books Are Fun will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 1 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2, in the lobby of Canonsburg Hospital. Books will be priced 30 to 70 percent off the retail value; major credit cards are accepted. Twenty percent of the sales from this two-day event will benefit the hospital.
• The Bethel-St. Clair Rotary Club will host its 58th annual pancake festival March 4 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. All you can eat pancakes will be available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets at $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under are available at the door. Proceeds benefit several local nonprofit organizations serving the South Hills most vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Benefiting organizations include the St. Clair Hospital Van program, South Hills Interfaith Movement, Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels and Prime Time Senior Care.
• Team Gilboy presents Jammin’ For Jen from 4 to 9 p.m. March 5 at Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South. There will be live performances by Scott Anderson, Ray Boccardi, Jim Hedge, Pete Hewlett, Tony Impavido, Joe Morrone, Jim Mullett, Lenny Smith, Joe Waslousky and more. There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. Cost of $25 per person includes food, entertainment and more. Proceeds benefit Jen Gilboy’s kidney fund. • The Bridgeville Area Historical Society is looking for old/historic photos of homes and businesses in the Bridgeville area along with new ones of the same homes/businesses. Photos will be scanned and returned. Streets of interest include (but are not limited to): Baldwin, Bank, Elm, Lafayette, Union and Terrace streets, Gregg and Ramsay avenues, and Prestley Road. • Local vendors are being sought to participate in the Bethel Farmers Market, which will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, May 2 through Sept. 26 in the parking lot of St. Thomas More Church, located at the corner of Fort Couch Road and Oxford Drive (across from South Hills Village mall).
