• The Upper St. Clair Youth Steering Committee will meet at 7 p.m. March 8. Dr. Bill Rullo will present the Natural Helper’s Survey results.
• The Jefferson Middle School Wind Ensemble, Mt. Lebanon School District, under the direction of Mrs. Krista Wagner, will perform side-by-side with the River City Brass Band at 7:30 p.m. March 9 at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. The concert will be broadcast live on WQED Radio, 89.3 FM.
• Center For Theater Arts will hold its 36th Annual Reach for a Star Gala on March 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe. This year’s special guest performer will be Hugh Panaro, who played Phantom of the Opera more than 2,000 times on Broadway, including the 25th Anniversary production. A Patron Reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a general cocktail reception and auction at 7, dinner at 8 and entertainment and awards at 9. Attire is cocktail dress. • Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, will host a forum on Immigration and Refugees from 7 to 8 p.m. March 15, to address basic questions regarding the process through which refugees and immigrants must go before coming to the United States, and the legal hurdles they face upon arrival. Local resources will be highlighted with suggestions on how to become an advocate and an ally. Sheila I Vélez Martínez, Jack and Lovell Olender Professor of Asylum Refugee and Immigration Law and Director of Clinical Programs at University of Pittsburgh – School of Law, will share her expertise and experience on this topic. Representatives from South Hills Interfaith Movement will present what is being done in the South Hills and share ways to get involved. • South West Communities Chamber of Commerce will host Community Outlook 2017: A Conversation With Your Municipal Managers on March 16 at The Club at Nevillewood, Collier Township. Doors open at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Municipal managers from Bridgeville, Collier, Heidelberg, Scott, South Fayette and Upper St. Clair will share their respective community accomplishments during the past year and answer questions. Cost is $33 for members and $40 for non-members. Lunch choice (grilled chicken breast over mushroom, asparagus and Parmesan risotto with roasted pepper pesto or Nevillewood spots with lemon butter sauce) must be given when reservation is placed.
