5 Things to Know This Week- April 5, 2017
• The Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Upper St. Clair High School Interact Club and Bethel-St. Clair Rotary Club was postponed. The new date is April 8. The event will take place at the shelter and golf course areas adjacent to the McLaughlin Run Activity Center on McLaughlin Run Road in Upper St. Clair. Activities and an opportunity to snap a photo with the Bunny will begin at 10 a.m.; the egg hunt will begin promptly at 11. Children should dress appropriately for the weather and bring a small basket to gather plastic eggs, which will contain either candy or prize-winning numbers. All are welcome to this free event. Children will be grouped age appropriately: 0-23 months, ages 2-3, ages 4-5, ages 6-7, ages 8 and over. Parking will be available in the lots located at the McLaughlin Run Activity Center, Public Works Building, municipal building and municipal tennis facilities off Morrow Road. • Mt. Lebanon will hold a Woody Waste Curbside Collection on April 8. For reservations, call public works at 412-343-3403 before 4:30 p.m. through April 6 to have yard waste (limited to shrubs, tree branches and limbs) picked up at curbside. • George Washington PTO is partnering with Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania to host a donation drive fundraiser from 2 to 5 p.m. April 8 at George Washington Elementary, Bethel Park. The school will earn $0.10 per pound of donated items. Money raised will go toward upgrades to the school’s playground and games/equipment. • On April 10, Liza Betsch, owner of Fabulous Homemade Cookies in Canonsburg, will be set up in the lobby of Canonsburg Hospital selling her treats that are made from scratch with recipes passed down from her mother and great grandmother. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Twenty percent of the sales will benefit the hospital.
