PennDOT to discuss bridge replacement project in South Park
The state Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. May 16 at the South Park Municipal Complex, 2675 Brownsville Road, South Park, to discuss the replacement of the Piney Fork Road bridge spanning Catfish Run in the township.
The construction is part of PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners.
The meeting will focus on preliminary construction and traffic-control plans that are proposed to take effect while the bridge is being replaced.
A presentation will be given at the start of the meeting, followed by the presentation in which representatives from Plenary Walsh and PennDOT will be available to discuss the bridge project and seek input from attendees. Preliminary construction and traffic-control plans will be on display for reference.
A letter announcing the start of construction will be mailed out two weeks in advance to all project stakeholders, and people attending the meeting can sign up as a project stakeholder.
This bridge is referred to as JV-572 and is one out of 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
The work is through the P3 partnership in which Plenary Walsh will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach allows PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly, while achieving significant savings and minimizing impacts on motorists.
