Meals on Wheels in Peters Township moving to new location
Meals on Wheels of Peters Township has found a new location.
The program recently signed a lease with Zamagias Properties for the former Sirena Taco restaurant in the northern end of the Donaldson’s Crossroads Shopping Center in McMurray.
“Meals on Wheels is pleased to have found a central location from which we can continue to prepare and deliver meals to senior citizens and others in need in Peters Township and the surrounding communities,” Director Susan Hanawalt said.
The organization helps seniors living in Eighty Four, Finleyville, Houston, Canonsburg, Cecil Township, Bridgeville, South Fayette and parts of Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park.
The design and renovation of the space has already started with an anticipated moving date in September. The organization is now raising funds to help with the substantial expenses, which will include the dismantling and moving of a large commercial walk-in cooler and freezer and the removal of all the equipment from the current kitchen, followed by the reinstallation process in the new space.
Anyone who would like to donate can visit the organization’s GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/MOWbuilding, or call 724-969-1000 to learn about other ways to help.
Until then, Meals on Wheels will continue to prepare and deliver meals from its current location above the Peters Township Fire Department, and welcomes new clients.
Anyone interested in meal service is asked to call 724-969-1000 for more information. Menus and information are also available on the website www.ptmow.org.
Following the move, Meals on Wheels will hold an open house to celebrate the grand opening of the new facility. In the meantime, photos and updates on the moving process can be viewed online at www.facebook.com/MOWPT.
