A simple assault charge against a suspended Keystone Oaks teacher accused of causing a disturbance at his parents’ McMurray home earlier this year was dismissed May 30 after he completed anger management classes.

Michael A. Magri was charged with simple assault Feb. 24 after Peters Township police said he went to his parents’ home 409 Cheri Drive about and began pounding on the door.

Police said Magri came in holding a 10-inch kitchen knife, began shouting vulgarities and threw a folding chair.

The charge against Magri, 34, of 318 Stonebrook Drive, McMurray, was dismissed by District Judge James Ellis after Magri completed the anger management program, Washington County Assistant District Attorney Adam Yarussi said.

Magri, a wood shop teacher at Keystone Oaks High School, has been on administrative leave since September after Mt. Lebanon police cited him for harassment after he struck a female student with a closed fist Sept. 15 in what investigators described at the time as “sophomoric in nature.” He pleaded guilty to that citation Jan. 12, according to online court records.
