The South Fayette Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing Nov. 15 to discuss the 2018 budget.

Community Development Director Andrea Iglar said the budget hearing, which will be held at 6 p.m. before the board’s regular voting meeting, will begin with a presentation on the proposed budget.

The board’s draft budget on the agenda includes a tax increase of .25 mills, from 4.48 mills to 4.73. If passed, taxpayers would pay an extra $25 for every $100,000 of assessed property value.

Also during the township’s Nov. 8 workshop meeting, Newbury Market officials gave a presentation about the development on Route 50. Iglar said the presentation laid out a plan for the development moving forward regarding future businesses that could sign on.

The development has gone on a roller coaster ride so far in 2017, as Newbury signed a deal to have TopGolf as an anchor tenant, but also saw its agreement with UPMC for a hospital as its other anchor tenant fall through.

Board President Joseph Horowitz said during the meeting he wants recently-elected commissioner Rebecca Sray, a Democrat, to join the board as soon as possible. However, Sray isn’t able to attend the November voting meeting, but the board hopes to swear her in at the December workshop meeting, Iglar said.
