Venetia man charged with risking a catastrophe

A township officer who was exiting a house on Royalbrooke Drive at about 9:40 p.m. confirmed one person was taken into custody. The officer also said Allegheny County’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team had not been present.

He referred questions to police administration for further information.

North Strabane Township officers whose patrol car was parked on Scenic Ridge Drive, some houses on which have yards that abut those on Royalbrooke, said the scene had been cleared before they departed shortly before 9.

A Peters Township ambulance that was parked on Royalbrooke left at 9:10. Neighbors who ventured outside at the time were unaware of what had transpired.
