McAleavey Sr.

A Peters Township man is accused of barricading himself in his garage with a gasoline can and loaded high-powered rifle April 22 while threatening to burn down the house.

Township police also accused Michael F. McAleavey Sr., 53, of pushing his wife, Katherine, into a wall before taking shelter in the garage about 7:30 p.m. at their residence at 210 Royalbrooke Drive, court records show.

Police managed to lure McAleavey out of his garage about two hours later, according to the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case.

McAleavey is charged with risking a catastrophe and simple assault.

He is free on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
