Pooch Pitt moves into new Peters location

Pooch Pitt has opened on Washington Road in Peters Township.
Pooch Pitt’s preferred customers – those with four legs – are in for a treat. The new place is open in Peters Township.
The two-story facility at 2873 Washington Road, under construction for about a year, opened in December. The previous location on Valley Brook Road, just off Route 19 in Peters, was a half-mile south of the new digs.
Day care, boarding and grooming services for dogs are provided at Pooch Pitt, which operated on Valley Brook since 2012.
Space was the primary reason for the relocation, said Shaina Willens, primary owner of Pooch Pitt. She and the other owner, Ella Meese, have 17,000 square feet of operating room, including an outdoors area. That is triple the space they had on Valley Brook. They also have nearly thee times as many kennels – 90-plus – as the 32 they used to have.
“We got very busy very quickly when opened in 2012 and knew we would need more space someday,” Willens said. “We also realized that over time, we needed the right place, one that had certain features in the building to run more effectively.
“We’re offering the same services,” she added. “The only difference is that now, we won’t have to turn customers away.”
Less than a week into the relocation, Willens said the “new” Pooch Pitt has gotten a generous share of plaudits from clients.
“We’ve been treated really well,” she said. “People make us feel appreciated. People love their dogs and we love to take care of them.”
A sign out front, posted shortly after construction began, promised a fall 2018 opening for the newly constructed building. The promise was fulfilled by about 10 hours, before winter began around 5 p.m. Friday.
Pooch Pitt’s hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
