The Bethel Park Great Alumni Hall of Fame will induct five new members as its Class of 2018 on Feb. 9 during the halftime of the Bethel Park vs. Baldwin boys’ varsity basketball game.

The Bethel Park Great Alumni Hall of Fame was created in 2013 to honor alumni who have either significantly improved the lives of others, contributed significant volunteer or community service, or achieved significant advancement in their professional field.

This year’s inductees are:

  • Robert “Computer Bob” Emmelkamp

  • Class of 1977
  • – Emmelkamp started his computer consulting business in 1978, with clients such as the California Angels, Charles Schwab, Cigna and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. He retired at 45 to donate the majority of his time to helping nonprofit organizations and has donated blood or platelets every month since 1986. He has raised more than $1 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through StairClimb events and personal fundraising, and has fostered collaborations with scientists and parents, which have led to numerous CF clinical trials. In 2017, Emmelkamp presented a poster he created on “The Changing Nature of Interactions between Research Scientists and Patients” at the European CF Society’s Science Conference in Portugal.

  • y to Columbus, the last 20 as senior vice president and general counsel of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. With a core group of visionaries, Kirstein has also been a catalyst in the construction of nine ice rinks and the formation of some 25 high school teams and youth programs. He has served as president of the Chiller LLC ice rink company, secretary of the Blue Jackets’ Foundation and an adjunct professor of sports law at Ohio State. A graduate of Ohio State’s Journalism School and Duquesne’s Law School, Kirstein received Business First’s Top Corporate Counsel Award in 2012, Duquesne Law School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016 and the 2017 Outstanding Alumnus Award from Ohio State’s Stadium Honors Dorm.   • – Klink earned history and law degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and served as an Allegheny County assistant district attorney and a federal prosecutor in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, where he was the lead federal prosecutor in a case involving the seizure of 1 1/2 tons of cocaine and the prosecution of 26 international defendants. He started Klink & Co. in 2001 and in 2008 created KlinkCheck Background Services, a pre-employment screening business, serving large public corporations and universities as well as law and financial firms, with offices in Pittsburgh, New York, London and Hong Kong on a variety of issues, including civil rights, litigation support, and mergers and acquisition projects. He speaks frequently about corruption, bribery and investigating misconduct, has had articles published in national magazines, created a class on bribery and corruption for Pitt’s Katz School of Business and has been retained as an expert witness on fraud and asset recovery matters.
  • John Metz Sr., Class of 1958
  • – Metz began his career in the food service management industry in 1967 with the founding of Custom Management Corporation. He was named CEO of Morrison’s Custom Management in 1987, when Morrison’s Hospitality Group acquired his company, and oversaw the growth of more than 900 accounts with a sales volume in excess of $600 million. Today, his company owns and operates 11 TGIFriday’s restaurants and two Krispy Kreme locations. In 1994, Metz launched Metz Culinary Management, specializing in providing dining management solutions for healthcare, educational and corporate accounts. He is the recipient of the IFMA Silver Plate Award and Restaurant Business’s Leadership Award, and was named a Top 50 Power Player by Nation’s Restaurant news and MUFSO Operator of the Year. For his community service work, he has been recognized by the Boys Scouts of America and the Wilkes-Barre Association for the Blind.

  • – Thompson is the senior attorney of Business Transactions at FedEx Supply Chain, providing strat
  • egic legal advice and counsel to the company in the areas of complex commercial agreements and risk management. Her legal passion is providing pro bono legal services to military service members, veterans and their families. She is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs and works with the American Bar Association’s Veterans Claims Assistance Network and other organizations to assist current and former service members in filing and disputing benefits claims. She is on the board of directors for the Association of Corporate Counsel in Western Pennsylvania and coached the BPHS Mock Trial Team for three years. In 2016 she received the FedEx Five Star Award, the highest FedEx employee honor, and the Pittsburgh Business Times’ “Business Women First”
  • Award. She is a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
