Tri-Community South recognized during USC meeting

The Upper St. Clair commissioners started 2018 by swearing in re-elected commissioners Mark Christie and Daniel Paoly and newly-elected commissioner Elise Logan.
Following the ceremony, the board voted to retain Mark Christie as board president and chose Nicholas Seitanakis as vice president of the board.
During the Jan. 2 meeting, the board also recognized the 40th anniversary of Tri-Community South Emergency Medical Services. Commissioner Robert Orchowski presented a proclamation to TCS Director Nora Helfrich, commenting that the municipality was fortunate to have such professional emergency medical care for so many years.
Tri-Community South went into service Dec. 31, 1977, providing emergency medical service for the residents of Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park and South Park. Tri-Community South has received numerous awards and recognitions, including becoming the first EMS system in Allegheny County – the second in Pennsylvania and 100th in North America – to be granted accreditation by the Commission on the Accreditation of Ambulance Services in April 2006.
In other business, the board granted conditional use approval for an additional 1,500 square feet for outdoor dining at Siena at St. Clair, located at 100 Siena Drive, to be used around the development as tenancy changes. Prior conditional use for 1,000 square feet of outdoor dining at The Porch and 1,500 square feet of outdoor restaurant dining at 100 Siena Drive mixed use, office and restaurant, was granted in August 2017.
Also approved was unified conditional use and preliminary and final land development for 1395 McLaughlin Run Road to allow for a professional dental office in the existing commercial building, the former site of Glad Rags retail store.
