Kindergarten preregistration for the 2018-2019 school year is underway in the Bethel Park School District.
Parents whose children will be age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2018, are eligible to preregister their children at this time.
The preregistration form is available at http://www.bpsd.org/Downloads/Pre-Registration%20Form.pdf. Parents are asked to complete the form and return it to their child’s school in person or via mail by Feb. 9.
Kindergarten preregistration assists the school district with its planning for the upcoming school year.
Kindergarten registration will be held in March. Kindergarten orientation will be held in May.
USC KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten registration for incoming Upper St. Clair kindergarten students and their families will be held mid-March at each of the district’s three elementary schools. Appointments, which last approximately 20 minutes, will be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on each of the registration days. Families will be able to schedule their registration appointment online in late January or early February. Registration days are as follows:
• Baker Elementary, March 13 and 23
• Eisenhower Elementary, March 14 and 20
• Streams Elementary, March 15 and 21
Families will complete the registration process at the school in their attendance area and meet with school community members that may include a teacher, librarian, nurse, school counselor and parent association representative. Incoming kindergarten students will complete vision and hearing screenings.
The school-based registration process is an important transition activity for incoming kindergarten students as well as their parents/guardians.
Registration packets, containing all of the necessary registration forms, will be available for pick-up at the elementary schools beginning Feb. 20, 2018. Families are encouraged to obtain packets during school hours and return completed forms at the time of registration. When picking up packets, families will be asked for identification that includes home address in order to confirm elementary school assignment.
Students registering for kindergarten must be 5 years of age by Sept. 1, 2018, to be enrolled for the 2018-19 school year. Proof of residency within the Upper St. Clair School District is required for enrollment.
Upper St. Clair School District operates a half-day kindergarten program. The morning program is from 8:15 to 10:55 a.m. and the afternoon program is from 12:05 to 2:45 p.m. A Kindergarten-Plus as well as before and after school programs are offered at each elementary school through Extended Day Services.
Incoming kindergarten families may elect to apply for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP), which is offered at Streams Elementary. All Eisenhower and Baker attendance area families – including those with older siblings currently in the PYP program at Streams – must complete kindergarten registration at their home school as determined by the elementary attendance area map. PYP serves students in kindergarten through grade 4. Due to space limitations, preference is given to students whose home school is Streams. A wait list is maintained annually. The deadline for PYP application forms is April 20, 2018.
Families in the Streams attendance area who do not wish to enroll in PYP may elect to have their child attend Baker Elementary. Registration should be completed at Streams Elementary. School visits to Baker will be arranged on an individual basis. The deadline for Streams parents to select Baker is also April 20, 2018.
