At least 15 concertgoers at KeyBank Pavilion treated for heat exposure

At least 15 concertgoers at the Vans Warped Tour at KeyBank Pavilion near Burgettstown were treated for heat exposure July 16.
According to Washington County emergency call center, a “mass casualty plan” was implemented by KeyBank officials after more than a dozen people collapsed from the heat.
Numerous ambulances transported patients with heat-related problems to nearby hospitals in Washington and Allegheny counties, including Washington and Ohio Valley hospitals.
The concert started at 11 a.m., with temperatures reaching the upper 80s and rising humidity. KeyBank officials said an estimated 15,000 people attended the concert, which ran until 9 p.m.
According to KeyBank officials, their on-site medical team coordinated directly with Washington County Emergency Services to make sure concertgoers received medical attention as soon as possible.
A statement released by KeyBank read, in part, “All 15 people who have been transported thus far are in stable condition, and we’ll continue to coordinate with the city as needed to ensure all attendees are taken care of throughout the day.”
The pavilion has misting stations in its plazas and free water stations on-site.
“It’s super hot, but everyone’s drinking that free water,” said Kyle Fletchers, a member of one of the bands that performed at the concert.
