A 26-year-old Bethel Park man shot and killed himself March 14 in the lobby of the Upper St. Clair police station.

Bryan Kirby Smith died of the self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.

Upper St. Clair police said the man asked to be buzzed into the police station about 9:45 p.m. before killing himself in the lobby. A dispatcher on duty, who was in a nearby office behind ballistic glass, witnessed the suicide, but was not injured, police said.

Allegheny County police are handling the investigation.
