The Allegheny League of Municipalities recently recognized South Fayette Township as a “Banner Community.”

The award is for the township’s work in “professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability and proactive communications,” according to the organization’s website.

South Fayette is among five new municipalities in the county to join the 50-plus-member Banner Community Program, which is in its sixth year. The recognition is in conjunction with Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

As a nonprofit organization, ALOM’s mission for the 130 municipalities in Allegheny County “is to foster local government in Allegheny County and Southwestern Pennsylvania by educating elected officials, delivering essential resources, and advocating for sound policy and legislation.”
