A South Fayette man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash in Bridgeville.

Darin W. Pilato, 42, died in the early-morning crash Nov. 15 in the 600 block of Bower Hill Road in the borough, the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office announced.

Pilato, who lived in the Cuddy neighborhood of South Fayette, was taken to St. Clair Hospital in Mt. Lebanon where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the 3:41 a.m. crash, the medical examiner said.

Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said Pilato’s vehicle struck a utility pole on Bower Hill Road near McLaughlin Run Road. No other vehicles were involved and no passengers were in his car.

An autopsy revealed he died of blunt force trauma to his trunk. The manner of his death was ruled an accident.

King said they’re awaiting toxicology results from an autopsy to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
