Bridgeville clinic owner pleads guilty to unlawfully distributing opioids

The former owner of a Bridgeville Suboxone clinic pleaded guilty in federal court Sept. 18 to charges of unlawfully distributing controlled substances and healthcare fraud, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Scott Brady’s office.
Terri C. Brown, 53, of Boswell, who owned and operated the Suboxone clinic Cherry Way, conspired with co-defendant Dr. Mark Foster to create and submit unlawful prescriptions for Suboxone, Adderall and Percocet, the release said.
Along with dispensing the prescription medications, Brown submitted fraudulent claims to Highmark and Medicaid, through Cherry Way, for payments to cover the costs of the pills, the release said.
Brown is facing up to 80 years in prison and a fine of $4 million, along with an additional 10 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 after pleading guilty to the five charges before U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer, the release said.
Brown is scheduled to be sentenced at 11 a.m. Feb 8 by Fischer.
