Peters Township hosts Citizens’ Police Academy

Peters Township Police Department will host a Citizens Police Academy to expand the residents’ knowledge and understanding of the law and explore police procedures.

Participants will be taught the basics of criminal law with emphasis on the crimes code and vehicle code. The program also will include patrol tactics, the processing of crime scenes, interview and interrogation and several other subjects.
The program is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesdays for nine weeks, Sept. 17 through Nov. 12. Class size is limited to 25 participants to allow for greater interaction between students and instructors.
Participants are selected from interested applicants. Preference will be granted to Peters Township residents. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and must complete an application, sign a release and waiver from liability and give permission for the police department to conduct a background check.
Applications are available at the police department or on the township and department websites. Applications should be returned no later than Sept. 3. They can be sent by email to Cpl.
