Miller named PSCA Legislator of the Year

State Rep. Dan Miller, D-Mt. Lebanon, has been named Legislator of the Year by the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association for his work in supporting and advocating for professional support services in schools.
“About a decade ago our school districts were decimated in several important academic areas, as well as in key student support fields,” Miller said.
He and state Rep. Thomas Murt, R-Montgomery County, have introduced a bill that “attempts to close this shortfall by requiring a full complement of school counselors, psychologists, social workers and nurses to ensure access to help is never a problem and that caseload management is never an issue.”
House Bill 1500 is currently awaiting action in the House Education Committee.
The Pennsylvania School Counselors Association is a professional organization with the mission to expand the image and influence of professional school counselors, to promote professional and ethical practice, and to advocate for equity and access for all students.
