Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced Feb. 28 it has designated St. Clair a five-star quality facility, the highest rating possible only one in Western Pennsylvania to be so awarded.

The ratings are part of a CMS refresh of its Hospital Compare website. Since 2016, the organization has published ratings of more than 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals. The intent is to help patients select a provider based on performance in areas that include quality, patient satisfaction and patient safety.

The hospital was also named March 4 one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals for 2019, marking the second consecutive year and fourth time since 2012 that St. Clair has won this prestigious honor.
