Council approves new playground equipment for Peterswood Park

A new playground and picnic shelter are coming to Peterswood Park.
Peters Township Council voted Jan. 28 to award a contract for the purchase of playground equipment and pavilion construction materials to replace existing structures in the area of the park closest to the Froebe Road entrance.
The $256,870 contract is with Jeffrey Associates Inc. of Indiana Township, Allegheny County. The total, which features a $26,333 discount extended by Jeffrey and manufacturer Playworld, includes installation of all playground and exercise equipment.
The township will incur additional costs for installation of the new shelter and additional site preparation. The 2019 municipal budget includes $490,348 for the overall project, with a $250,000 grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offsetting the local outlay.
In July, the township received a low bid of $639,411, which council promptly rejected.
