State Sen. Pam Iovino, D-Mt. Lebanon, announced that eligible residents now can sign up for the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s new Senior Citizen ConnectCard at her district offices in Bethel Park and Robinson Township.

The Senior ConnectCard allows seniors to ride Port Authority and other public transit vehicles for free across Pennsylvania. Although Port Authority will continue to accept blue or yellow PA Senior Transit ID cards, seniors who currently use their Medicare ID card to ride public transportation for free must obtain a Senior ConnectCard by the end of 2019.

Seniors can complete the application between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at either of Iovino’s district offices: 100 Broughton Road, Bethel Park, or 5996 Steubenville Pike, Robinson.

Appointments are encouraged to reduce potential wait times by calling the Bethel Park office at 412-831-0250 or the Robinson office at 412-788-2967. Seniors who complete the application at the Senator’s office will be notified when their Senior Citizen ConnectCard can be picked up, typically within two to four weeks.

Applicants must be 65 or older and must present one of the following as proof of age:

  • Photo driver’s license
  • Birth certificate
  • Armed Forces discharge or separation papers
  • Baptismal certificate
  • PACE identification card
  • Passport or naturalized papers
  • Pennsylvania ID card
  • Statement of age from the U.S. Social Security Administration
