Upper St. Clair pep rally set for Aug. 26

Upper St. Clair School District will host its third annual Community Pep Rally at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at the high school stadium. The event is free and open to the community.
The pep rally will include a variety of competitions among the Upper St. Clair High School fall varsity sports teams, including girls and boys cross country, golf and soccer; football; girls volleyball; girls tennis; field hockey; cheerleading; band; dance; hip-hop; ice hockey and rowing. Events will include the limbo, a pie eating contest, tug-of-war, field goal kicking contest and more.
Kevin Deitrick, director of athletics, will present the Upper St. Clair Academic Panther Cup to the varsity team that achieved the highest grade point average during the 2018-19 academic year. Last year’s winner was the girls golf team, with 3.85.
In addition to friendly team competitions, the event will feature performances by the Upper St. Clair High School marching band, hip-hop, dance teams and cheerleading teams, as well as an appearance by the panther mascot.
Those who attend are asked to support The Education Partnership, a local nonprofit that provides school supplies to students and classrooms in need, by dropping off donations of supplies. Donation boxes will be located at stadium entrances throughout the event.
The Kona Ice Truck will be on hand. Panther fans can also purchase 2019-20 USC athletic passes at the event.
