South Fayette Township Library’s 25th-anniversary Silver Celebration drew a copious amount of community members to the Sygan SNPJ Lodge March 6 for a day full of activities, entertainment and getting to know neighbors.

Taking place exactly 25 years and two months after the library’s grand opening, the 2019 soiree featured something for everyone: storytime with Clifford the Big Red Dog of children’s book fame, a performance by cast members of South Fayette Middle School’s “Rock of Ages” production, a taste of Indian culture with students of Sanskruti School of Indian Dance, and the spellbinding stylings of magician T.J. Hill, to name a few.

Members of the library staff, board of trustees and Friends of the Library organized the celebration, along with volunteers who helped carry the day without a hitch.

The South Fayette Township Municipal Building on Millers Run Road always has been the site for the library, dating back to its start in a 30-by-50-foot meeting room with books and supplies received through donations.

These days, the library offers plenty of access to computers and room for programming in its far more substantial amount municipal building space, which includes designated areas for teens and for younger children.
