Building on 47 years and a tradition that goes back to ancient times, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Mt. Lebanon is set to hold the 2019 Greek Food Festival.

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church is celebrating 50 years at its location off Gilkeson Road in Mt. Lebanon.

The festival evokes the sights, sounds and tastes that define the traditional Greek way of life with hand-prepared Greek delicacies, live music and traditional folk dancing, and shopping in the marketplace.

The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 11-14 at the church, 123 Gilkeson Road, Mt. Lebanon, across the street from the Galleria. Admission is free. Parking is available at the church and also at USB Union Savings Bank on Route 19, with a shuttle available.

Featured outside in the veranda and tent area will be gyros, savory kebobs, fried loukoumades, pastries, and drinks at the Taverna. Inside, Greek delicacies such as oregano chicken, pasticcio, moussaka, lamb shank, tiropita, spanakopita and stuffed grape leaves will be available. Pastries including baklava, galaktoboureko, finikia and kataifi will be available.

Listen to the distinctive sounds of the bouzouki and other exotic instruments played by authentic Greek musicians, and delight in the beauty of traditional folk dancing by performers in elaborate costumes.

Eat-in and takeout meals are available, and ordering can be done online at www.pittsburghgreekfest.com.
