Mt. Lebanon Public Library welcomes Digital Bookmobile

The Digital Bookmobile National Tour is making a stop at Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 11. The Bookmobile will be parked in the library’s upper parking lot, near Hazel Drive.
Community members are invited to the interactive exhibit to learn about and try ebooks, audiobooks and magazines and more that are available from Mt. Lebanon Public Library. The event is free and open to readers of all ages.
Library staff and eReading experts will be on the Digital Bookmobile to guide visitors through the easy process of borrowing digital books. Readers with a valid library card can borrow their favorite titles 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by visiting www.mtlebanonlibrary.org or by downloading the library’s one-tap reading app, Libby, powered by OverDrive.
“We receive a lot of questions at the reference desk about ebooks, audiobooks, and other digital content, so this will be a great opportunity for our patrons to learn more about what the library has to offer and how to access it,” said public services librarian Sarah McGowan, who arranged the bookmobile visit.
Staff members will facilitate one-on-one tutorials to help visitors borrow and read or listen to eBooks and audiobooks. Equipped with interactive workstations, touchscreen activities, devices to sample titles and more, the Digital Bookmobile has everything a reader needs to get started. Popular devices – including iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Chromebook and Kindle – fill the Gadget Gallery for visitors to browse Mt. Lebanon Library’s digital service.
Visitors can learn how to enhance their reading experience with tips and tricks from the experts, including how to sort and filter searches, create notes and highlights, manage your holds, tag titles and much more.
The Digital Bookmobile is powered by OverDrive, the digital reading platform for more than 43,000 libraries and schools worldwide, including Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
The 42-foot long traveling exhibit launched in 2008 in Central Park, New York City, has since traveled more than 233,000 miles and welcomed nearly a quarter of a million visitors at more than 1,000 events.
