Decorated snowplows visit Bethel Park schools

Students at two Bethel Park elementary schools recently had visits from some equipment they probably will see again this winter.
Public works staff members drove snowplows to William Penn and Abraham Lincoln schools to show off the paintings that now adorn them, thanks to a contest in which 250 youngsters participated.
They submitted designs, from which 12 winners were selected. West Mifflin art teacher Chris Galiyas worked during the summer on committing the designs to the plows, and their participation served as a highlight of the Bethel Park Community Day parade in September.
“This was the first year, but we’re going to do it every year for a long time,” public works director Susie Dolinar assured the Abraham Lincoln students. “In March, we’ll be coming back to the school to start our second annual coloring contest. We want all you guys to submit your designs, and then in May, we’ll pick the winners.”
