USC Marching Band Festival set for Oct. 5
The Upper St. Clair Band Parents Association will host its 44th Annual Upper St. Clair Marching Band Festival Oct. 5. The event, featuring bands from six high schools, begins at 7 p.m. in the USC High School stadium.
Tickets, which are $8 for adults and $5 for students, are available in advance from any USC band student or can be purchased at the gate.
The Upper St. Clair Marching Band will perform its festival show, “WUSC Radio,” which opens with Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” followed by Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.”
The band’s third movement is “Hernando’s Hideaway” from the Pajama Game, and the show closes with “Saturday Night’s Alright (for Fighting),” by Sir Elton John.
The band is under the direction of Don Pickell and led on the field by drum majors Maggie Halloran and Ben Nelson.
Also performing are the marching bands from Baldwin, Brashear, South Allegheny, South Fayette and Steel Valley high schools.
The 2019 Upper St. Clair High School “Panther” Marching Band is a performing ensemble comprised of 102 musicians and auxiliary members.
The band performs at athletic events, parades and festivals throughout the region and around the country. The band has won awards at festivals and competitions throughout the United States and Canada.
