Online registration for the annual Disability and Mental Health Summit hosted by state Rep. Dan Miller, D-Mt. Lebanon, is now available.

“For the last six years, the Disability and Mental Health Summit has made a difference in the lives of thousands of people,” Miller said. “This year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the passage of the landmark Americans With Disabilities Act, along with more than 40 informative sessions and hundreds of exhibitors for those in attendance.”

With 65 to 70% of Pennsylvanians with disabilities not in the workforce, employment will be a major focus of the summit, which is scheduled for March 3 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

“The ADA broke down a lot of doors, and there is so much to celebrate,” Miller said. “However, the work is not done, and we should be a state where every 16- and 17-year-old has real opportunity to get a job and develop skills. The first work experience for far too many people with disabilities is delayed for years and too many go underemployed.”

Registration for the summit is available at www.disabilitysummit.com. There is no cost to attend sessions or the resource fair.

This year’s event will again offer continuing education credits for educators, social workers, lawyers, rehabilitation counselors and American sign language interpreters. An administration fee is required for each credit, but otherwise the event is free for anyone to attend. Additional information on credits can be found at www.disabilitysummit.com/continuing-education.
