Bethel Park purchases trucks

Bethel Park’s public works department will be getting four new trucks after council approved the purchases at the meeting Jan. 13.
The municipality will spend about $366,000 on two, eight-ton trucks, which will be used as plow and dump trucks. Bethel Park will also spend $52,510 on two 2020 Dodge Ram 4×4 pickup trucks. All the new trucks will replace older trucks that are currently in use.
In another matter, council welcomed a new face to the board. Todd Cenci was elected in November. He replaces Paul Dixon, who chose not to seek re-election, as representative of Ward 4.
In other business, a new Mexican restaurant is coming to Bethel Park.
Council approved a liquor license transfer to Emiliano’s planned new location on Library Road in the Millennium Shops plaza. Emiliano’s is a small chain that also operates five other restaurants in the Pittsburgh area. It plans to take over space that used to house Vilka Bistro.
Council also agreed to spend $50,000 to upgrade the technology equipment in all police vehicles with new mobile data terminals. Council also agreed to purchase four short-barrel patrol rifles for members of the South Hills Area Council of Government’s Critical Incident Response Team. CIRT police officers respond to disasters and other emergencies, such as barricaded suspects.
